A Contemporary Tropical House with Passive Cooling Strategies

This residence integrates modern tropical architecture with thoughtful materiality and climate responsiveness. Designed by ANP Architect, the façade features a combination of exposed concrete, textured breeze blocks, and vertical wooden elements, creating a harmonious play of light, shadow, and ventilation. The use of roster blocks on key elevations ensures natural airflow and filtered daylight, reducing thermal gain while maintaining privacy.

A transparent pergola structure over the upper terrace introduces a lightweight element, contrasting the mass of the concrete walls, while encouraging indoor-outdoor living. The warm timber ceiling and vertical shading devices enhance visual warmth and environmental comfort. The overall design reflects a balance between aesthetic elegance and sustainable living, tailored for tropical urban settings.
